I joined the SKY campus happiness retreat the weekend before my PhD defense, as the upcoming defense was causing me a lot of stress and anxiety. The retreat really helped me to feel balanced, calm and positive for my defense and I am glad that I did it. I am grateful to the teachers, who are lovely people with a very positive energy. In the retreat, we learned some breathwork and meditation practices to include in daily life, which I think are very powerful and valuable tools. In my opinion, the retreat can be beneficial to anyone, but especially if you feel overwhelmed with exams and studying or need help with stress management, I can highly recommend it 🙂
I had just finished my PhD, and it was a very turbulent phase in my life. My PhD was stressful and I had several burn outs and I was told by every administrative person I spoke to that this was a regular part of doing a PhD. I was depressed and had a negative outlook on life. I wanted to do something about the way I was feeling, and I wanted to make myself stronger from the inside. I knew that no amount of counseling and therapy would help me get stronger and get over how I was feeling. That’s when I remembered about the Happiness program. I cannot describe how it has gradually transformed me and my life. I am so much more resilient and powerful! Life is never easy, but I have started to notice that no matter the situation, I always have a smile on my face. I feel that now I have the strength and the wisdom to overcome all problems. The retreat changed my view on many aspects of my life. Not only was the breathwork very powerful, but also the retreat as a whole experience, with the exercises, the encounters, and all the social aspects of it. It was intense, awakening, heartwarming. I do recommend it.
The Sky Happiness Retreat was truly a unique and fulfilling experience.
